We're Not
Falling Back.

On November 1st the rest of the country turns its clocks back an hour. We're keeping ours exactly where they are. The sun can stay up late if it wants to.

2
Americans have refused to fall back
and counting. Arizona and Hawaii, you've always been free, but you can still sign.

Official-ish document

The Not Falling Back Pledge

I, of , being of sound mind and well-rested body, do solemnly pledge:

  1. On Sunday, November 1st, 2026, at 2:00 AM, I will not turn my clocks back. The clocks are fine where they are.
  2. I will keep my evenings bright, my mornings reasonable, and my microwave clock untouched.
  3. I will not be governed by a time change that Congress forgot to cancel before it went home.
  4. If asked what time it is, I will say the real time, and I will say it with confidence.
  5. I will tell at least one other person about this, ideally during a sunset that is happening an hour later than it was supposed to.

Signed, under the sun, with the full moral authority of someone who simply decided not to.

This pledge is not legally binding, which is the whole point. First name and state are shown on the wall below.

The practical part

How to actually stay on daylight time

Your devices don't follow "daylight time." They follow a time zone, and the time zone carries the rule about changing clocks. The trick: pick a zone with the same offset as your current daylight time that never observes DST. Your phone will think you moved. You didn't. You just refused.

Time zone cheat sheet

If you're on…You're atSet your device to…
Eastern (EDT)UTC−4San Juan, Puerto Rico (Atlantic Standard Time)
Central (CDT)UTC−5Cancún, Mexico, or Bogotá, Lima, or Jamaica
Mountain (MDT)UTC−6Regina, Saskatchewan, or Guatemala or Costa Rica
Pacific (PDT)UTC−7Phoenix, Arizona. Congratulations, you're Arizona now.
Alaska (AKDT)UTC−8Pitcairn Islands. Yes, really.
Hawaii, Arizona, Puerto Rico—Do nothing. You've always been free.

Car, microwave, oven, that one wall clock

These never knew about daylight saving time in the first place. Do nothing. You're already winning.

Frequently asked

Questions, answered with confidence

Is this legal?

Wildly. Nobody can arrest you for your oven clock.

Will I be late to things?

No. You'll be early. An hour early. To everything. Until March 14, 2027, when the rest of the country catches up and you're suddenly, mysteriously, on time.

What about my job, my kid's school, my flight?

They are, regrettably, still falling back. Show up when they tell you to. Just know in your heart that it's actually an hour later.

Wasn't Congress fixing this?

The House passed the Sunshine Protection Act in July 2026 by a vote of 308 to 117. The Senate did not take it up before leaving town. So here we are, taking matters into our own wrists.

Is this real?

The pledge is real. The protest is real. The legal effect is zero. The fun is one hundred percent.
